So I've searched high and low, google has not been my friend. But does anyone know the laws on emissions for 'classic cars' here in Phoenix? There was supposedly a bill pending a few years ago... can't seem to find anything. Any AZ s30 folks here? Thanks in advance.

I could help you find info but who, what level of government, what do you want to know your leaving us with little direction of what your looking for? I could Barry you in federal law, AZ is very lax compared to some other states like NJ. Is the a Phoenix law? It's hard to give you help with such a vague question.

This might be able to help you. I googled Arizona DMV and searched from there.

http://www.azdeq.gov/environ/air/vei/index.html.

Scroll down to Collectible Vehicles.

Also here

http://www.azdeq.gov/environ/air/vei/tested.html

Under Exempted Vehicles

"Vehicles designated as "collectible" (requires collectible vehicle insurance, reported to Arizona Motor Vehicle Division by insurer)".

great thanks for the info everybody! Still trying to track down a Z to buy, and just seeing if that was going to be an issue... Emissions exempt sounds awesome to me :)

Keep in mind that "classic" policies limit your annual mileage and will vary with the provider.

It is not so much a matter of how may miles you drive the car per year although there are limits - - - so much as it is a matter of your intended and actual use of the vehicle. Classic Car Policies cover driving your Classic for Pleasure Only - - they can not be used to cover cars driven for daily or even occasional transportation purposes.

You must have another vehicle, insured and used for transportation - ie. a Daily Driver.

You must have your Classic Garage kept.

You must have a good driving record.

If you use your Classic for transportation - when your daily driver is out of commission for any reason - then you are NOT covered.

FWIW,

Carl B.
