January 21, 201114 yr comment_342881 IIRC drivetrain.com has been mentioned here several times before. Nissan is always another source.Just did a quick check, they do list parts for the 4 and 5 speeds. Good place to start anyway.Search for FS5W71A or F4W71B. With your VIN you have the F4W71B stock, the FS5W71A is the 77-78 280z and 79-83 280zx 5 speeds with various gear sets. January 21, 201114 yr comment_342882 If you will have to replace anything more than bearings, synchronizers, seals and gaskets it's best to find a used unit. Gaskets and seals are probably available from the dealer or MSA. I take the bearings to Motion Industries and have them find new bearings that are the same dimensions as the old ones and pay half the price of a dealer. I used to build them all the time but it's been a while. Good Luck. January 21, 201114 yr comment_342893 We go thru a transmission parts warehouse in Portland. Full kit cost like $180. If you can go thru it yourself with this little investment I can't imagine why you'd buy someone elses half worn out box. I'll bet there are tranny parts suppliers in AZ. Let your fingers do the walking.... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38327-transmissions-parts/#findComment-342893 Share on other sites
January 21, 201114 yr comment_342919 I bought everything for my Type A 'box from Nissan, except the bearings. Those I bought from a local industrial bearing supply house for a lot less than Nissan. I've heard rumors of bad aftermarket synchro rings, which is why I bought those from Nissan.
