Posted January 31, 201114 yr comment_344071 Hey all Together with a mate we installed a set of Tokico struts and spings for my late european 260z (78). The springs were 5022R and 5020F. The R were longer than the F´s. Because of this, he claimed the R´s had to go to the front, to handle the heavy engine. I found it strange but thought he would know the best and we gave it a go. Anyway, I purchased some XXR wheels and tires and put them on. This is how it looks now : its not a bad look, but I suppose not how it is meant to be. My questions are : What will it do if I were to change it the right way ? So the F go to the front and the R to the back? I assume the Z´arse will go up higher and the nose down? My goal is to get the same height for the F and the R The rimms are 16x8 (205-55-16) on all wheels. I´m guessing it will be hard for the front wheels to turn when lowered more. January 31, 201114 yr comment_344075 You need to flip the springs. My back springs were several inches longer than the fronts. Tell your buddy to lay off the Cochonette prior to spring install , Edited January 31, 201114 yr by cozye Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38432-tokico-setup-switched-positions/#findComment-344075 Share on other sites

February 1, 201114 yr comment_344115 R mean REAR, and F means FRONT. I often ignore the obvious too. Don't feel too bad. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38432-tokico-setup-switched-positions/#findComment-344115 Share on other sites
February 1, 201114 yr comment_344119 It's all in the diameter of the wire the springs are made of and how they are wound. My Tokicos were longer on the rear too. My Koni springs from the 70's are the same length, there not cut and are new but the fronts are stiffer. February 1, 201114 yr comment_344126 H3hrY, where did you get those XXR, in Europe or did you have to import them? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38432-tokico-setup-switched-positions/#findComment-344126 Share on other sites
February 1, 201114 yr comment_344133 Just remember that a strut SLOWS the action of the spring (so you don't bounce down the road) The Springs determine how much load each corner will take. stiffer springs in front will handle the weight of the motor in front. The longer struts in rear will slow the "Squat" of the rear when you launch the car.Wrench in one hand and beer in the other = do it again.Beautiful car by the way.Dave Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38432-tokico-setup-switched-positions/#findComment-344133 Share on other sites
