Posted February 4, 201114 yr comment_344477 I've searched but no clear results yet. I have an old 280z dizzy that I would like to use on my 240 versus an aftermarket solution. I see mostly zx dizzy solutions but I'm more interested in getting the car running rather than performance at this point. I want to use what I have on hand which is the old dual points dizzy (which is my suspected culprit) or the 280 dizzy. Prob not a popular solution but looking for economical fix for starts. If so any wiring diagrams out there that anyone knows of? Thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38463-280z-dizzy-on-stock-240z/ Share on other sites
February 4, 201114 yr comment_344481 The 280Z dist. uses a VR, or magnetic pickup, to trigger the spark. You would need either an electronic ignition module from a 280z, or a GM HEI module. The ZX swap is popular because the ignition module is mounted on the distributor, so there's only two wires to connect. But it works the same way as the externally mounted module.I think that you will need the distributor base also, the part with the set screw for adjusting timing. Here is one swap article, although it may not be perfectly clear. - http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/gmhei.html Edited February 4, 201114 yr by Zed Head Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38463-280z-dizzy-on-stock-240z/#findComment-344481 Share on other sites
