Fastest Car You Have Ridden In?

Do tell about your extremely fast experience. Mine was in a IMSA GTP Jaguar XJR-5 (the 44 car). That duel turbo 12 hit 180+ on the strait at Roebling & left a mark on my Simpson helmet where it hit the roll bar. The tunnel vision suggested time travel. I had ridden in some fast cars before but never like this. What is the fasted car you have been in?

I took this photo right before we got in.

The fastest car I've ever been in is probably the 2005 GTO I presently own. The governor kicks in a 158 mph in 5th gear and it actually starts to slow down in 6th due to wind drag. I, however have never driven it that fast but I have had it up to 130 a couple of times in short bursts as well as trapping in the 1/4 mile at 111-116 mph the time we took it to the strip last June

Got a rental car (350z) in Vegas to take me to the speedway and did a ride along in a Mario Andretti Formula one at 180mph. The students were at the bottom of the speedway doing 80-90 mph. I loved being at the top and cruising past them....but damn, fastest money I have ever spent. LOL

First was a 70 Challenger 383 My older sisters boyfriend took 2 of us 16 yo. to hit the hiway and race a splitwindow Barracuda. 150 mph. Then a friends 66 Caprice 396 about 150 and the scariest was in the back of a 68 Charger 383 again about 150. I thought the fenders were going to fly off the charger:)

Me driving would be about 135 in my old 70 Chevelle

A ride many years ago in the passenger seat of a race-prepped Porsche 911 turbo variant of some sort. It's been too long ago for me to remember exactly what it was. Two or three hot laps at Portland International Raceway, years ago before they added the chicane to the long straight. As I recall today, we were doing 150+ on the straight. As fast as that was, the thing that most impressed me was not the speed or acceleration - it was the BRAKING! That first lap, I was sure that we were gonna die, spattered on the wall because this guy wasn't backing off or braking at all! And at what I felt was several lifetimes passed the "last possible second", he finally got off the throttle and stood on the brakes. At that point, I thought the belts would fail from the G forces and I was going to go right through the windshield. The brakes on that Porsche impressed me immensely. They totally changed the way I thought about brakes.

I've had the opportunity to drive several potentially fast cars, but never at speed. I was working at a shop that did custom work to cars and got to drive a few back to where ever they had come from. I recall driving a brand new Corvette and Porsche Turbo back in the 80's. I think I drove a Ferrari once, maybe, and I got to drive a Rolls Royce. But I had to be responsible with them.

I've worked on a lot of amazing cars that I did not get to drive.

I owned a 68 GTO that I took up to 120 MPH once. The thing felt scary. But gee, it only had 120,000 miles on it, bald tires and worn out shocks. It was still pulling but I wasn't willing.

I've had my fathers fully race prepped Alfa Romero GTV out on several tracks. It tops out at 120 and is not scary. I was wanting to go faster, but it's only got a 4 cylinder 2 liter in it.

I'm not sure how fast our 240z is, the speedo is broke. It's relatively stock still. I've had it out on the same tracks as the GTV. My lap times are about 5 seconds slower in the 240z with street tires. That will change!

I've driven all sorts of fast machinery. Ferarri 360, Ford GT, BMW M3, M5 & M6, Vettes, Vipers, Mustangs GT-H and GT500, Acura NSXs, Maserati Quatroportes, Mercs of all shapes and sizes, Jags, Bentleys, Porsches of all models and trim levels, etc, etc... Fastest I've ever been in any of them? About 25 mph.

I was a valet for a few years.
