Fastest Car You Have Ridden In?

I've ridden several of my sportbikes into the 160's.

My brother has a Ferrari F430 that I've driven into the 180's.

But the greatest sensation of speed has to be when I fly my RV-6 a scant few feet over the runway at 200+ mph, followed by a vertical climb. Aerobatics - never gets old.

I feel stupid just admitting to the above.

Are you nuts or what? My Miata gets really light at 130. Yes I've laid it out on Georgia 204 with the top down for a quick few bursts. Same in the Ferrari up a bit higher. F car was solid at 140ish.

This Grand Am GTO GTS-R Viper. No speedometer but at Willow Springs we were probably over 180mph in turn 8. Lap times were in the 1:14-15 range. To give you an idea, ITS 240Zs run WSIR around 1;32s.

My friend and I were hitchhiking when we were 15 and a 1967 Plymouth GTX with a 426 Hemi picked us up.

The raw power and acceleration was out of this world.

Got hooked for life:)

There have been faster cars since but that was pretty cool:cool:

BTW... this is that same GTS-R Viper (before its GrandAm debut) racing Don Vesco's Turbinator for the old Discovery Extreme Machines TV show. I did get a ride in it at over 200mph when they were filming this sequence at El Mirage. Its could spin its rear wheels at that speed.

One of the biggest thrill rides I've had was in Mark Alger's #4 Comp Coupe Viper on Phoenix International Raceway during a National Auto Sport Associate (NASA) event. The 8-lap ride-along was super-fun, and scary at the same time. We were on the track with a few "newer" drivers in much slower cars, so it made for some white-knuckle moments. I never looked over at the gauges to see just how fast we were going, but afterward I checked the computer and our fastest lap on the track was a 1:05:69. I can't wait to go again.

Drove a friend's Carrera GT on the street. Rode in it on the track. Rode with Geoff Brabham back in the '70's in a stock Toyota Corolla. Proving once again that it isn't always the car. He was fast!!!

Fastest run to date 11.52 @ 118 mph in the 1320

Normally runs 11.60-70's but it's still FAST! Just doesn't corner very well anymore......

I owned a 600hp twin turbo Z for 10 years. Shockingly fast daily driver. However, I still prefer the 240Z over it.

1991 911. I was the passenger and I was getting a ride home from Centinela Hospital in Los Angeles. A rainy night so the speed was about 30MPH. But I have been hooked ever since. And when you see one pushed to the limit for 12 or 24 hours time and time again you know its a good machine. Oooooohhhh to have money!

I too, have have scared myself several times going too fast for the road I was on. All those were surpassed by these two cars. The Corvette at Thunder Hill was ( only ) around 150 or so. Would love to see the banks at Daytona in it. The Porsche 908 was the most thrilling, don't know how fast we went, as I was a passenger, and could only think of how frail that car is, and how soft my body is. It was most rewarding, as I was the enging builder of this 1968 LeMans car.
