I'm looking for the differences between fuel tanks for 240z thru 280Z. My tank has a small drain plug that is located on the passenger side of the tank, approx under the fuel sending unit. The FSM shows the 78 tank with the drain plug centered on the tank. What's the difference and will have any problems with fuel delivery. Or am I being anal about this??

The car is a 78 280z.

All of the 77/78 tanks i have the drain plug is small and on the Pass side as you describe The Large plug in the center is the early tank (Early75 and before). The picture in the FSM may be of a JDM tank or just being used as an example and may not be the actual 77-78 tank .

Thanks, my anal mind can breathe easier.

70-74 tanks lack baffles

75-76 tanks have baffles for fuel injection and large well for spare tire

77-78 tanks have baffles and small well for spare tire.

So which taks from later cars are a direct bolt in for the 240Z? I'd like to get a tank with baffles if possible.
