February 12, 201114 yr Author comment_345569 Ok I got everything back in... I was playing around with the choke mechanisms and they seemed to be working... but when I reinstalled the cable, I must have put it back in the right way because now I have a choke! The new bracket also seems to be doing its job. Ok just to verify: Idle speed for my Z is about 600 rpm. When I apply the choke it goes up to 1000 rpm. Is that the norm? February 12, 201114 yr comment_345574 That sounds about right, but the real test is after the car sits all night and the block is nice and cold. Then pull back the choke, turn the key and only touch the gas pedal once and off, Start the car. Should fire up within the first 2 or 3 seconds.Mines almost instant but I got Ztherapy Carbs and a 60K Mallory/MSD ignition set-up.Dave Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38514-choke-does-not-work/?&page=2#findComment-345574 Share on other sites
February 12, 201114 yr Author comment_345584 Hey Dave, thanks for the confirmation, I will try that early tomorrow morning. I finished in time to go a local Z meet and being with those guys with awesome(er) Zs, I learned a lot more and even made a list of what I need. One guy there told me about the electronic Ignition, Mallory was one and the other was... pertronix? I will look into this electronic ingition, but I don't want to veer too much from stock.
