T/S and Brake Light

my turn signal on my 240z blinks on the outside but no blinking arrow light on the dash, it clicks though, but when i turn the hazard light on the arrow will blink so i know it's not the bulb. i had the t/s switch refurbished a few years back.

1. Are you sure your front turn signals are flashing?

2. Are you sure the wiring is as stock?

In the stock wiring, for the left turn signal, a White wire is the 12VDC+. The contacts connect that wire with a Green/Red wire (front left turn signal) and a White/Red wire (rear left turn signal). The Green/Red wire also goes to the bulb in the instrument panel. The right side has Green/Black (front) and White/Black (rear) The hazard lights use the same wires to go out to the lights.

My guess is that your front signals may not be working. If that is the case, it's probably the wiring in the steering column.

When you turn on the turn signal, and you hear it clicking, and the rears are blinking, Have you checked the front turn signals to see if they are blinking???

I ask because the 240Z's blinker set up it split.

The rear blinkers go thru the brakes as well, and the Dash indicators are on the same circuit (wires) as the Front blinkers.

So if you don't have dash indicators when the turn signal is on, and you hear it clicking, then the fronts are not likely flashing either.

So check the front blinkers to see if they too are flashing when the turn signal is on and the dash bulbs are not. Get it?

If the turn signal switch was serviced by me a few years ago, I Warrenty my work and will repair them for free, just send them back to me with $8 to cover your return shipping.

Did you clean the very top contact of the T/S switch - that is the contact point for the brakes (it's easily missed)?

If it's not the brake switch (which you should be able to read power very easily) - you will need to go straight back to you hazard switch. All the lighting power goes through the hazard switch from the fuse panel before it routes itself to the T/S switch and to your brake lights. It just takes a couple of minutes to pull it out - I just got finished rebuilding a couple of them due to the exact same problem. Let me know if you need an extra one and I'll sell it to you for the same price I paid for it. (I'll need to have a picture of your switch end sytle if you need a back up one). I've got a couple extra - this is one of those parts that I believe everybody should have an extra of to keep one one the shelf (along with a headlight switch - turn signal switch and so forth).

When you had your hazard switch out you did see the two ball bearings and springs correct - and they got seated back ok right? It's easy to put the contacts in upside down as well if you dismantled your unit - that is why i like to keep an extra - nobody likes having "no brake lights".

Simpsonville?? Greenville?? My son graduated from Furman a couple years ago with his Masters - beautiful campus and great area. Downtown Greenville has some great nightlife.

i will get back into the z this afternoon and let you know what i find. yes, i'm near furman, great area to go for a drive. i've been through boone a couple of times in recent years ; took kids to tweetsie railroad.
