mrk3cobra Posted February 12, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 12, 2011 I have a 1971 240z 03/71 build date, I am ready to install the rear suspension. In the picture I have two different upper and lower rubber stoppers. The first picture are the uppers and the second picture are the lowers. Does anyone know the correct ones for my 240Z. Nissanman Posted February 12, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 12, 2011 Does this help? The top stopper has small bumps, the bottom one looks to be a flat washer, no vulcanizing.

Arne Posted February 12, 2011 Share #4 Posted February 12, 2011 The ones in my 7/71 car are like the ones on the left.
mrk3cobra Posted February 12, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted February 12, 2011 The ones on the left are the ones I removed from the car. The ones on the right came new in Nissan part boxes when i bought the car. I was trying to figure out if they were new updated parts or if the last owner of the car ordered the wrong year part. I think I will just install the ones I removed from the car unless someone knows that the ones on the right are correct for a 03/71 240z.
Zed Head Posted February 12, 2011 Share #6 Posted February 12, 2011 The right one on the top picture looks like a 280Z part. I've never seen one like the lower right, with no bumps, until now.
Darrel Posted February 12, 2011 Share #7 Posted February 12, 2011 (edited) The left ones in both pics are the top, the upper right is the bottom, the lower right came from a urethane kit.The drawing that nissanman posted is the front differential mount.Personally, i would go with urethane kit all the way around. Zed Head Posted February 12, 2011 Share #8 Posted February 12, 2011 I think that the right drawing in Nissanman's picture is of the bushing inside the ends of the moustache bar (the part you burn out when you install urethane). It's from the FSM and shows the top and bottom big washers, and what looks like a small ring of rubber at the top. Datsun could have produced a better picture, I don't think it represents what they put on the cars. The left drawing is the front mount. It's not the greatest either. On my 76 280Z and a 78 280Z that I had, both top and bottom looked like the one on the upper right. It probably matters little which is used, unless mrk3cobra is doing a restoration.
zKars Posted February 12, 2011 Share #9 Posted February 12, 2011 The size of the holes in washers will tell you which is top and bottom. The pin they mount over is fatter near the body than it's threaded end.
Carl Beck Posted February 13, 2011 Share #10 Posted February 13, 2011 The bushing in the lower picture, right side was used from late 72 though 73. Top and bottom are the same design during that time - except the hole size is different. Top mount has a larger hole.As zKars mentioned - the hole size will indicate top or bottom location.FWIW,Carl B.
