Fuel pump

I have a 73 240 with both electric and engine mounted fuel pumps. If I get rid of the mechanical pump, will the electric electric pump supply sufficient fuel to the three webers(dcoe 40) I have? Header is only other engine modification. Thanks.

As long as your electric pump is still working and the filter in the pump is clean and clear, then just having the electric pump should be fine.

You'll need to make or buy a block-off plate for where the mech. pump bolts up to the engine.

another thing that it will help to stop is vapor lock , because the fuel is pumped from the tank and what isn't used is returned to the tank , and not left in the line to heat up and boil. That is why Datsun added the electric pump, mostly to stop vapor lock in the summer. The fuel rail passing over t he exhost manifould was wrapped with asbotoses to try and stop the heat. I have driven my 240 this past summer in 115 degree heat and had on problem even in traffic.
