February 14, 201114 yr comment_345853 Nice ZG, to bad it doesn't have the headlight covers and chrome bumper that would make it really sharpIn 72 they had a version in Japan the 240ZG. It had a different rear, 5 speed and their was several engine options. This car look to have replica parts on a standard 240z Edited February 14, 201114 yr by ajmcforester Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38590-what-z-is-this/#findComment-345853 Share on other sites
February 14, 201114 yr comment_345854 Looks like a first gen with a 280 nose grafted on it?A 280Z is a 'first gen' so you must have meant a 280ZX but as the others said, it's a G-nose front end. February 14, 201114 yr comment_345875 It has a solid hood. What makes you think that it is a 280Z?(Not that someone couldn't have put a solid hood on a 280Z, but it seems like there would be heat issues.) February 14, 201114 yr comment_345876 Nice ZG, to bad it doesn't have the headlight covers and chrome bumper that would make it really sharpActually, the ZG's didn't have chrome bumpers. Here is a link to some pictures of a ZG in Japan. Some items have been modified (interior, mikunis, etc.) but I think the exterior is pretty original looking except for the wheels and tow points http://speedhunters.com/archive/2009/12/14/car-feature-gt-gt-ta-auto-nissan-240zg.aspxIn 72 they had a version in Japan the 240ZG. It had a different rear, 5 speed and their was several engine options. The ZG (HS30-H) had the same running gear as regular JDM HS30 models: an L24 with Hitachi SU's, 5-speed transmission and a 3.9 R180 differential. There were no other engine options on a real ZG. Alan T knows a lot more about these cars than I do. Here is a post he made about them http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showpost.php?p=38358&postcount=10This car look to have replica parts on a standard 240zI agree that this car almost certainly has replica parts, since real ZG's were only RHD cars sold in Japan. ZG kits could be ordered through Datsun Comp in the US, but they were very expensive and not many people have real parts, but reproductions of various quality are still being made.-Mike Edited February 14, 201114 yr by Mike B Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38590-what-z-is-this/#findComment-345876 Share on other sites

February 14, 201114 yr comment_345888 That's my '72 240Z in a picture taken in 2004. Since then the headlight covers and a custom front airdam/splitter has been installed.Engine is a Rebello 3.2L NA w/triple 44mm Mikunis making 314hp@crank and 258@rw on 93 octane.Car was awarded the "Mr. K" trophy at the '03 ZCCA convention and then taken directly out on the race track. I had it down in Nashville for the 40th and took it out for some angry laps on the Superspeedway when our 240 race was being used by my co-owner friend and fellow racer. It will be at ZCON-2011 as well along with the refreshed race car (new motor with some BSR bits - E31 BSR works head and 50mm taper bored Solexs, BBS wheels, etc.). February 14, 201114 yr comment_345909 Slightly off topic but I was looking at the photos of the ZG in Japan and saw this steering wheel. It claims to be original. Is that a high polished leather or something? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38590-what-z-is-this/#findComment-345909 Share on other sites
