Posted February 20, 201114 yr comment_346641 Hello. I'm new here so please excuse me if I posted this in the wrong place. I mean no disrespect! -- I just bought a 1978 280z and it came with a box of parts. I'm having a heck of a time identifying the two pieces in the photos attached. Can you help me? They might go with the previous owner's 240z but they were in the box labeled for the 280z. Thanks in advance for your help. I've looked through listings on various sites and in my service manual but can't seem to figure this out. -- James Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38647-help-identifying-parts/ Share on other sites
February 20, 201114 yr comment_346642 I think the second picture is half of a two piece plastic radiator shroud for a 280z (either top or bottom). I'm not sure what the first picture is of, but it doesn't look like a 240z part to me.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38647-help-identifying-parts/#findComment-346642 Share on other sites
February 20, 201114 yr Author comment_346645 Thanks Mike. That'll get me started in the right direction. I had assumed it was an interior part. That is all I thought it was missing... February 20, 201114 yr comment_346656 My best guess on the first piece is a heatshield, perhaps from the engine bay. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38647-help-identifying-parts/#findComment-346656 Share on other sites
February 20, 201114 yr comment_346668 That is a heatshield for a 280Z. It mounts on the drivers side fenderwell to shield the brake master cylinder from exhaust heat. The other appears to be the lower half of a 280Z fan shroud.
