Posted February 26, 201114 yr comment_347356 Whats the measurement from the metal battery tray to the bolt hole at top that holds battery down. 2nd..whats the size of the hole for the main wiring harness? These are on my list today. If anyone has a real good picture of firewall hole location on a 73 that would be helpful too. It looks like about 6 inches up and 3 inches to left from center of frame rail to center of hole? February 26, 201114 yr comment_347368 It sounds like you have the same rust issue as I did. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38705-battery-tray-and-main-harness-hole/#findComment-347368 Share on other sites
February 26, 201114 yr comment_347371 I have a early 1974 260 and here are the dimensions I took.Hold down hole for battery retainer is 9 1/4 " above battery tray.Center of main electrical hole is 4 3/4 " above the rail and 3 3/4" from the inside of the rail. These were taken with the grommet in place so they may be off a little Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38705-battery-tray-and-main-harness-hole/#findComment-347371 Share on other sites

February 26, 201114 yr comment_347374 PJOE If you have replaced or are replacing this piece of sheet metal you can determine the size of the hole by ordering a grommett for that hole. I am currently working on that same area. Ok I went out to measure. The hole is approx. 1 3/8 in diameter and approx 1 1/5 inch directly above the wheel well under the battery tray. The hole should be located just about directly above where the wheel well transitions from horizontal to vertical. February 26, 201114 yr comment_347377 I have a 72, don't know if it is the same but.... The battery tray is 9" exactly to the center of the bolt to the tray on mine. The wiring hole is 1-7/16" diameter and I have attached a pic from the engine side for reference if needed. Hope this helps.
