Posted February 28, 201114 yr comment_347681 hey guys, just wondering if something like this has any benefit to the trusty 'ol L24.http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/HAD1/459.oap?pt=01365&ppt=C0331my car is just a weekend toy, with occasional trips up the santa monica mountains. i'd like to think an oil cooler like this wouldn't hurt?the engine is mostly stock other than a drop-in k&n on '72 SU's, 6-1 header and 2.5 inch exhaust. stock cam, etc. it doesn't have any overheating problems.thanks for your input,-Mark Edited February 28, 201114 yr by MarkS30 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38727-generic-oil-cooler/ Share on other sites
February 28, 201114 yr comment_347687 It wouldn't hurt, but you'd likely not see any difference in terms of oil or engine life since you're typically not placing the engine under extraordinary stress. February 28, 201114 yr comment_347697 I.M.O. I would start with a filter relocation kit that has ports for adding on the cooler at a later date. With the remote filter, you get a certain amount of cooling, plus much cleaner filter changing. February 28, 201114 yr comment_347712 Avoid those types of coolers for engine oil. They create too big of a rpessure drop and are less effective then a sandwich plate style. For a street driven S30 an oil cooler is not needed - unless you're towing a trailer across west Texas in August at 100 mph.
