I have to be in before the headlights rise. Even w/ perscription glasses I see lots of blurs of street lights, head lights, blinkers. Quess I won't be driving Le Mans any time soon...

I look down at the right side white line for the oncoming, this keeps pupil dialation to a minimum, and try to drive faster than the follower.

That is the original idea of the white line.

By the way you need to learn to deal with it the knob on the bottom of your review mirror is to help you see with out blinding you

You live in redneck country 'pard, you just need to 'git used to it.

Shifting Gears:

This is an issue that has developed quite a debate with NHTSA and the car industry.

The term used these days is "dazzle" and you are falling into the highest age group of complainants about this phenomenon.

Thank the good 'ol USofA and their penchant for having standards that vary from everywhere else in the world so you can see that overhead sign that is not illuminated on that rural highway outside of town.

Imagine what a 10 watt bulb would cost the taxpayers?!

Then add the desire for folks to buy cheap Chinese HID's and retrofit them in housings not designed for that application. Result; Crazy bright stray light and dazzle all over the place. But the folks that have them think they are great and really do not understand what seeing and seeing properly constitute.

Bright headlights at night.

It seems a lot of people are driving with highbeams on and don't know or care.

Being in a lower slung Z car I can understand that trucks and SUVs and some larger higher stance cars would be shining more towards my windshield but then again maybe the lights aren't positioned right.

From the back the answer is easy enough, limo window tint - but then the lights in the side mirrors shine right back in my eyes.

Sometimes I'd like to shoot something back - lead or intense spot light -

but I'm expected - as an elder statesman so to speak; to set a better example.

Anyone else notice this? :cool:

At intersections I found their are things that can be done, I'll slightly angle the car to the right, not enough to cause a swerve just enough to minimize impacts to the mirrors. In my FJ (yes I own one of the vehicles) I'll angel a little off not to directly hit the persons mirrors in the car in-front of me. When following some one my FJ has three headlight settings that are legal I'll go to the dim setting over standard and High beams.

I was watching the video from a prior post. I was doing some research on upgrading my Z with the higher admitting lihgs, but in my case I'll get the proper headlight reflector unit. I don't know if I'll do it I am planning to use an original alternator and the pull might just be to great.

We're to busy trying to undo and or live with some of the screwy laws and regs that are in existence because of "the land of the fruits and nuts"...Dude.

I would be more inclined to carry my .44 for the varmints that our "Great Country" has wanting to change more than our headlight standards.

Sadly with your rush to judgment, you do not understand that my communication being tongue in cheek was meant as humor to someone I have known for quite some time at another website.

Funny how folks want to start a tussle do so by stating they really do not.

I don't think you are going to like Erzelda's chicken jokes much as well.

So easy to PM someone but it never quite gets that public exposure.

That's what Texan's like to do and I don't want to see another law, but man you fell like a jack A$$ to make a supporting comment after his argument. Be side it would be a pain to enforce the law did you see that machine they used that is a grand or more.

Seriously H4 and I have been comrades so to speak for a bunch of years. We are very sempatico and love the dry British type humor and beyond the fringe outlook on life.

Plus H4 Is a very bright fellow - ok - bad pun but the man knows his stuff.

Yeah I'm finding my way here - testing the waters and seeing the different answers that folks are coming up with. Or is that coming with, up. The older I get the more my participles seem to dangle.

Or is that early onset Alzhiemer's.

Anyway - Tony D. gave the political perspective over at the floundering Zcar and H4 has the professional install side covered and I may not have to see the eye doc so soon.

Besides - questions like this tend to get discussions going and meet new folks.

BTW Jackhammer -

For country outings I prefer the "Long" Colt .45 - several Colts, Ruger, S&W and Win 94 Trapper.

For intown social work it's S&W .40 for service size pistol - .45 acp I just don't go to the range often enough to justify carrying -

and for covert carry .380.

Now about that "redneck" country crack -

Folks - I have had far more courtesy and consideration (dimming of headlights and careful driving) from country folks and long haul truckers way out on the roads than any 100+ city drivers.

There's a lot of good people out there - just don't pack 'em in so tight.

And it was not aimed at any particular group by location of residence or choice of career, just mentality, and they are everywhere.

I guess we only get de-sensitivity training in Cali.

I've got a few relatives that live in the county you both reside.

(Obvious if you know my name)

So, from now on I will be PC to the max.

Recently I've been testing a Bulb made by Federal Mogul under the Wagner "TruView" Branding.

Here's what the company has to say:

"TruView headlamps by Wagner Lighting Products are the first headlamps to provide a truer, whiter light than conventional halogen beams.

TruView headlamps provide exceptional forward visibility without projecting the offensive (and potentially dangerous) glare commonly associated with high-intensity discharge (HID) systems and high-mounted headlamps.

For certain applications they do seem better than the other comparable offerings from Sylvania, GE, etc.

My personal favorite is still the Narva XB3, but Narva discontinued making bulbs for certain applications so a good replacement was necessary.

The jury is still out on the TruViews as that replacement.

One issue being a shorter service life in the ones I have tested in vehicles with DRL's through the headlight bulb.

But they are a vast improvement over standard halogen style bulbs in all other respects.
