Eco Boost f150

Returned my f150 from a three year lease yesterday. Not really interested in getting another vehicle, but gave the salesman a few minutes of my time anyway. He was wondering why I was not getting another truck and I told him - I dont want a gas guzzler and a lower hp vehicle was not useful or appealing.

He says check this out and shows me the specs on the Eco Boost f150. V6 Twin turbo 365 hp, 420 f/lb torque @ 2500 rpm. Gets 29 mpg (cdn) highway, 20 city - full tow package - rated to pull 11,000 lbs. Took it for a spin, this is the crazy part - it pulls like my 300Z. Without traction control on it breaks free vitually every time you hit the gas. Very small T lag.

Anyway didnt buy it, but theres one in the driveway - sales man told me to take it home. Wish I hadn't - it's just a tease.

Anyone heard anything about this setup - got one?

Brought it back this afternoon and gave it a couple of darts on the open road with about a 1/4 mile ahead of me open, roads slightly wet - both times it broke free and started to go sideways (with traction control on), had to ease the gas to get her under control. I am probably going to buy one after daughter #2 gets married - nice truck, fun and practical too.

It has my vote.

On an XL Ford requires the 8' bed option, XL Decor Group, HD Payload, Max Towing, Fog Lamps, plus a few other things. That's why it adds up to $4,650. Basically they want at least $28K for any F150 with the 3.5L EB engine.

I had dealer try to locate that truck and it doesn't exist. Its a $35K minimum for a 3.5L EB truck here in SoCal unless you're willing to order one and wait 10 weeks.

I see your point. They don't offer the Eco-Boost V6 as an option in an otherwise "basic" regular cab 1/2 ton.

The 8' Bed by itself is a $3175.00 option.

On the model I'd be interested in - the engine itself is a $750.00 option. So in my case that's a pretty reasonable option price.

The other optional engine on that truck is a 6.2L V8 and it adds $3235.00 to the price.

F-150 Lariat $34,110.00 {includes Trailer Tow and Power Equip Pkg.}

Super Crew Cab 6.5' bed $2660.00

Eco-Bost $750.00 {6.2L $3235.00}

If I buy it before the end of March - the Eco-Boost V6 actually only cost me an additional $250.00 - as Ford has a $500.00 rebate on that engine in that truck. LOL

I'd say that Ford is trying to "encourage" the use of the V6 instead of the V8 in their most popular models - - perhaps to meet their CAFE standards?

At any rate - I'll keep my old 2500HD Crew Cab for a few more years!!:love:

FWIW,

Carl B.
