Super frustrated!!!!!

So guys/gals I just need to vent. I've been on the seach for a car for about two months now. Last week I went to look at a car that was on Craigslist. It was in pretty rough shape but it was a series on car and I talked the guy down to 700 bucks for it so I was happy we shook on it and I was to go back and pick it up this weekend. Had the trailer rented and have been buying parts all week to get to work on it when it got here. The car was sitting on 4 flats and the guy was to have his buddy who runs a local garage come take the wheels off of it and put some tires on it. Told me it wouldn't cost much since it was his buddy. He called me thursday and said it was going to be $400 which doesn't seem like to great of a price for 15 inch tires especially if you buddy is supossed to be helping you out, but I went with it cause I was excited to get to work. So tonight I sitting watching the hockey game excited for tomorrow when the guy text me and says hey I still can't find the keys and my buddy never got the tires done so... we need to push it off. Now first off I was supossed to bring it home last weekend but he couldn't find the title or the key so I've already waited a week. And this is the last weekend I have free for about a month to go get it. So i text him back and ask him if he can get me the tire size so I can get with a shop in his area and just take the wheels myself. Or can I just take the wheels off and take them to his buddy and have him put them on. He returns with I still have plenty of interest in the car so I think I'll just have to pass on the sale.

So let me tell you I'm livid. Nothing like having this great excitment for a week and searching and buying parts just to have nothing to do with them. So needless to say I'm on the search again. IF ANYONE knows of any good fixer uppers let me know. Please.

sorry to hear man. i kinda did the same. i was talking and txting with a z owner for a couple of days on a 500 dollar sale, but i thought it was worth talking down (before seeing it) and when i offered, and he countered, i offered again, and didn't get any reply back. and he knew i was gonna be in town the nexxt day. so i finaly swallowed my pride, and i txt him saying i'd buy it at the full 500. he txt right back. go figure. then snow held me back two weeks from getting it home!!!

and now its in big pieces in my driveway as i perform surgery.

the wait is horrible, but its all worth it in the end!

When you go in looking to make that buy on a good cheap project you have to have cash in hand and be prepared to take posetion on the spot.

My lesson was taught on the purchase of an 80 vette. The owner wanted $800 for it, needed the top end reassembled, had already been redone. I decided to walk away and he said he would take $500. I didn't bring the cash, made the handshake deal for the next day. The "friend" that went with me to look at the car came back that evening and bought the car out from under me.

I got arested for assault and the judge ordered me to pay him for his dental bill and $5000 in pain and suffering. I broke his front teeth. Needless to say, almost 8 grand later, we no longer are friends.

You would probably have found other things wrong. No good dealing with people like that.

That was my thoughts don't fight fate. So I last night I did some looking and talking with some fellow z freinds around the country found a Black Pearl for 1500 in good shape going to check it out tomorrow after noon so we will see what happens. Wish me luck.

Ajmcforester: thanks for the links I'll def keep my eye on them if the black pearl doens't work out but its coming from a reputable z guy so my trust and hopes are high.

Nice thread jack. If you're trying to sell your car you should create you own thread or put it in the classifieds. I hardly think that someone looking for a 240Z and is also stockpiling parts for same would have much interest in your car anyway. Just sayin.........

Went to check out the Black Pearl car. It is a good car for some TLC but not the project for me.

SO I guess this is a desperate plea. The Fiancee has only given me 2000 to buy the car but I'm not looking for show stopper just looking for a solid place to start. Just looking for something mostely straight and solid. I'm not a body guy so thats the important part to me. The mechanics I don't care about at all that I can do and handle. Motor isn't the biggest of deal would prefer one in it but not concerned with it running or needing overhauled same with tranny etc. Let me know if anyone has a project like this around they are willing to part with. The search continues.
