March 17, 201113 yr comment_349607 My guess for the car you wish you still had is the Olds Cutlass....Dude, I had a 66 olds f85, 330ci 4BBL, 4 speed, 383 rear, 50"s on the back 60's on the front, complete suspension refresh etc.Of all the cars that have come and gone over the years I miss Ol Blu the most. Had to sacrifice her to the devorce gods in order to save my company. One of the saddest days of my life, the new owner took out a guard rail with it, total loss. March 18, 201113 yr Author comment_349692 Hi Randy:I'm 66 and bought my first car at 15. Great Job on the Z ... What's next? FWIW, Carl B. Carl, Love the picture. Me and my 17 year old are finishing a refurb on a 1974 914. He and I like to autocross in the spring, summer and fall, nothing too serious, just like competing against ourselves. Here's a photo before and after. Gotta love that Ravenna Green. March 18, 201113 yr comment_349758 Can we do bikes?Longer then my car list (I had 13 in my garage at one time), but I have nothing as exotic as the MV Agusta F4. March 18, 201113 yr comment_349760 Longer then my car list (I had 13 in my garage at one time), but I have nothing as exotic as the MV Agusta F4.Gary, you need an F4! They're so radical it made my Duc 1098 feel tame by comparison, and looks and sounds like nothing else. Not much on comfort though....I noticed in your earlier post, you were talking about a manual transmission AWD car. Have you considered a Subaru WRX? They still come with 5-speeds. Mine's been great...actually made the Illinois winter fun. March 19, 201113 yr comment_349882 Here is my list....nothing was bought new:1982 VW Rabbit Diesel (wrecked and totalled, saved parts for car # 3, owned from 1988 - 1993)1969 Volvo 1800S (still own it, under restoration, will be finished when I get some $$, been off the road since 1998, 1993 - present)1981 VW Rabbit Diesel (engine and trans from other Rabbit, sold with 280,000 miles on engine never apart, 1993 - 1997)1985 Audi 4000 Quattro (1997 - 1999)1985 Audi 4000 Quattro (daily driver, though getting tired with 333,000 miles on it, never had engine apart, 1999 - present)1973 Ford F250 Camper Special (2007 - 2009)1972 Datsun 240Z (#87974, still own it, rolling restoration, will get turbo and other mods, 2008 - present)1973 Datsun 240Z (unknown serial number, parts car, will be destroyed once I cut off parts I need this summer, 2010 - present)The Rabbits were great though extremely slow. They were reliable and cheap to operate with 55 mpg. The 4000 Quattros are the best car Audi ever made....indestructible and extremely reliable cars, fun to drive. Just getting really old and parts are getting hard to find and expensive...nothing new strikes my fancy yet. The Ford was bought cheap and sold expensive and I got a lot of use out of it...gas guzzler but I miss it...very handy. The Volvo is going to be very nice once it gets done...that was the car I bought when my uncle wouldn't sell me the Z in 1993 and I wanted a sports car. I finally ended up getting the Z in 2008 and it is a favorite...lots of mods planned since it isn't a good candidate for totally original restoration.Greg Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38909-cars-over-the-yearsdatsun-jeep-and-porsche-win/?&page=2#findComment-349882 Share on other sites
