Car Warriors

johnnyt, I agree, but have an amusing story for you. Back in the early '70s, when the Japanese cars were still in their infancy in America, so to speak, a big boss where I worked was a retired Marine, WW II vet, and had plastered his rear bumper with Semper Fie, and various other U.S.M.C. bumper stickers. His car, ? A Toyota sedan. Seemed just a bit ironic.

I made it to the point where Ryan Templeton referred to the 240Z as "junk" and got so mad that I had to turn it off. I've never really been into muscle cars but I would never refer to a 69 Mustang fastback or a 69 Camaro RS/SS as "junk", as a car guy I can appreciate the form of these cars and their place in automotive history.

Amen to that signal!

I will have to say I was speechless when I saw the finished white car, only because i was busy filling up my trash can with BARF. I wasn't too crazy about the red car either. If the red car team was bunch of "pros" who work on megabuck imports all day long, it sort of explains how they didn't do so well putting in the V8, and I really think the interior person wasn't even part of the real team, just somebody they grabbed at the last minute.

I saw Car Warriors a week or so ago, when the TV guide said it was the 240Z but all I saw was a couple newer Monte Carlos, which looked kinda nice with only a new engine and some fresh paint and interior. they looked like they were almost new.

OTOH, I was chatting with the Hybrids guys while the show was on the other night, and we all agreed that the show was "fixed." I could never believe some wrench monkeys could have drawn that car design so easily, or done the body work that well.

If you want to see a vehicle show where everybody gets along and they build nice vehicles, try Truck-U, chop-Cut-Rebuild, or some of those Sunday morning shows.

If someone wants to start an email campaign to end or fix up the show, I'm in.

Well said folks, let's just remember that this has very little to do with the cars and more to do with the manufactured "drama" that is the bait for the audience. Don't get sucked in to it and get all emotional about it.

I was initially very excited to see what these "pros" would do to a couple of zs in 72 hrs. Sadly, I got carried away with the fantasy and was promptly grounded (should I say "floored") with the reality of the show's 72-hour limitation.

They are not out to convert anyone, least of all fans of the z, they are simply playing to their target audience...

Good story, the thing that I have difficulty understanding is this. Just about anyone who sees my car thinks it is gorgeous and I often get people salivating when they see it. Many even mistake it for a domestic muscle car as mentioned by others as well on this site. It all leads to the fact that it is "not domestic" which is creating the idiotic hate from some of these so called "car people". I also find that some people get so fixated with a particular make that they lose focus. Although I love my Z, I also like the look of Mustangs, Corvettes and several exotics and will comment in a positive way when a vehicle deserves it. In conclusion, I have found Z owners to be the most friendly and open minded of any other car owner(s).

I was browsing last night and caught the last 30 seconds of this show, nver even heard of the Speed channel before last night. I caught a glimpse of the red car and thought, cool a Z. I set the DVR to catch the 1 am showing and got home tonight to watch it.

Needless to say I was dissapointed. Both builds were crap, the white one for obvious reasons, the red one not as much. The finish on both were terrible, orange peel, gaps, etc. The best part of the show was the unveiling of the 2 donor cars, they looked nice in primer gray!

I will go back to watching other car shows. I do enjoy Chasing Classic Cars, Mecums Auction, Motor Week and that english show mentioned in an earlier post.

The new show starts tomorrow night (Wed, Mar 23) on the Discovery channel. From the previews, it looks like a better show than car warriors, but we will see for sure.

I kinda miss Junkyard Wars, where they built interesting stuff that actually works from what you find in the junkyard.

I forgot to put down the one "reality" car show that I really do enjoy watching, Overhaulin' with Chip Foose. Great storylines and awesome builds, the guy is fantastic.

I dream of the day I come home to find my "project" stolen for the TV Show...

Chip, you reading this??

Its either that, or when my 10 yr old becomes a major league ball player he told me he will pay Mr. Foose to rebuild my car..

Like I said before, Chip, you reading this? :)

I would never let that guy even touch my car. My car would look really ugly with 23 inch wheels and pink pastel paint. After arresting those guys as accessories to a felony theft, I would have to have it overhauled back to normal. Yeesh.

BTW- Speed is showing the 240Z show AGAIN. To add insult to injury, I'll bet, I just heard the one guy say "EVERY RACE CAR HAS TWO STRIPES DOWN THE CENTER!"

After this is the next Car Warriors- '79 Cadillac! Maybe they'll put Semi-tractor exhaust stacks and a fifth-wheel on that?
