What does this do?

Ive got another question as to what this switch does?

Its on the lower right hand side of the steering collumn and is like a knob for teh AC or something. I dont have AC in my car and so I took it out when putting my dash back in my car.

It doesnt look to be factory installed at all, it just dangled there really.

And when I got my dash back in and still had it plugged in, when I would test start the car I would hear a kind of a "POP" noise from the engine compartment.

So I removed it completely and the pop noise went away.

that may be.

there was an iron wire, similar to the gauge of a coat hanger wire, and was pushed through the Fins in my Little AC raddiator thing behind my Climate Cont. Panel.

I dont know what that was about but it was a crap job to say the least.

I have that in my car in the same location, except mine's attached. Haven't touched it though for fear of messing something up.

I had the same fear myself but decided it was only causing trouble being there.

If anything it would only lead to more electrical trouble later on down the road if I had left it, was what I figured. So I capped the ends of the leads and covered them into the carpet and tossed the switch in my spare parts box.
