Frame rot and then some

Recommended Posts

That car is toast. Dump it and find another. And don't drive it, it's very dangerous. You will spend 15,000k easy to put that car in any kind of shape and thats if you do a bunch of the work yourself.

No clue when this was done to my car. But it apparently had simular issues. Too dark to take more pic's but here's one of that area and the clear amount of welding that went in to fix it. It aint pretty but car seems fine. Ofcourse I haven't driven it yet.

So I just picked up a 78 and I bought it knowing that the frame had some problems. But upon closer inspection it is horrible both sides are like a magic trick they are just missing rotted thru both sides from the floor pans to the cross member. To the point that if you push on the drivers side wheel you can watch the whole frame move. I think it is past the point of putting bad dog rails in it. So asking for advice. Should I buy the front half of a can and get it welded in. Or do you think the frame rails would take care of it.

Here you go!
