Funny thing is tho! These guys sent me a total of 6 wheels , 4 in the 17x8.5 size and 2 in the 17x7.5. I emailed them about this and never got a reply.

Im still debating on what size tires in the rear, im thinking 245/40/17 but I dont want rubbing issues on stock suspension. Im not worried about the front, it will be 225/45/17.

I already ordered some tires. Hankook evos 4 1/2 star rating 215/45/17 in the front and 235/45/17 in the rear. I hope they dont rub :paranoid: I went way more conservative than I wanted to, but I didnt want to run into rubbing issues. I think the tires are a bit skinny for the wheels but whatever, I will get these mounted saturday morning just in time for the datsun canby meet.:cool:

Wow, 71Nissan, that is a good fit and just the look I've been trying to get, and no body modifications! ET4 offset, I think I saw on the tags on the wheels in your earlier photos. RLGM must mean "royal lip, gun metal"? I'm surprised the 235's fit without rubbing. Good job. I agree on the 215 on the front. How's the steering with the extra tread, any heavier? PS? So, you have two extra 17x8.5's huh? And they haven't sent the Phillipine mafia to collect? So your wheels are all RB-R, right? Obviously the 8.5 has the wide rim, and the 7.5 looks really good too. Is it also RB-R? Are the spokes identical on both widths? That's what I've been trying to figure out. Now I can't decide, gun metal or hyper black...Your car looks great! Enjoy! 235 is probably what I should have stuck with, but I got greedy and thus RUBBING. My car is lowered by an inch also.

I did try to remedy the rubbing by slotting the struts on the rear to bring the top in.It almost completely elimintated the rubbing.

I did get my car aligned last week and checked out my rear camber and was pleaseantly suprised to find out that I was only 3/4 negative---so time to slot the holess some more to get rid of all the rubbing.

The steering is a bit heavy with my 245's up front, but not too heavy, just during very low speed driving.

Thanks, guys for the great information on this thread. I know I'm thoroughly "beating a dead horse," but I'd still like to actually see (and feel) the difference between the spokes of the RB and RB-R. Thanks, madkaw, for the chance to see yours, just haven't gotten free. So, how noticable is the difference in spokes? From the 18racing photos, it appears the rim is made wider on the 8.5 because the 7.5 mounting face is thicker than the 8.5 mounting face, which in effect disguises the offset. I think both wheels look great. I like the deeper rim and straighter spokes, but the 7.5 still has a nice looking rim, and I could still fit a 225/45 to it for the rear with 215/45 front or just stick with one size. The plan is a fun daily driver with about 180-200 hp, which would be a nice GT, good for highway cruising or loaning it to my wife or kids. I will not be racing this car, nor do I want every street racer (or traffic cop) trying to get me in trouble just because the car has wicked fat wheels and tires, so I don't mind understating the performance. I'll admit I'm a bit past middle age, but haven't forgotten the fun of my first 240 when I was 19; still the most fun car of all the fun cars I've owned or driven. Thanks for the honest assessment about the steering effort, and I realize even the 215 will be heavier than stock. I like options, but options do confound the decisions. Thanks for all your opinions. So, chacha, you got this started, how's it going? On the road yet?

no rubbing issues, stock suspension. On another note, the 235's are about as wide as u can go without any rubbing issues. The front I could have gone wider but i think the 215's are perfect balance.

Great pics thanks, wheels are one thing I will probably struggle with on this, now that you have them on do you think you could go a little more aggressive on the offset on the fronts? From the picture it looks like it could but tough to tell, the rears look perfect.

Actually the rear tires do have a slight issue with the strut pearch, but that was something I knew would come into play. Im probably just going to bang it in a little. The tires absolutely clear the fenders perfect tho :cool:

The offsets are the same, +4, the difference is the material behind the wheel. I dont know offset wise I could have gone, but I know I could have put a 225 width tire and still cleared the front, hell..i think you could put 8.5" wide wheels on all 4.

Actually the steering feels better, its not as hard. Both the front and rear are the same exact wheel, the spokes are the same. The only difference between my wheels is the width. And no, i emailed rota and they never responded about sending me extra wheels, so im assuming someone just wants to keep it under the carpet. Doesnt matter, the way I look at it I have extra rear wheels or I can go 8.5" wide on all 4 later on.

There is one issue on taking tight corners, the inner rear tire will contact the bottom spring pearch, but all you have to do is bang the base of the spring pearch it in a 1/4 of an inch to stop the contact with the tire. But it absolutely clears the fenders perfect, no rubbing there...which is what I was mostly worried about.
