Posted April 1, 201114 yr comment_351631 I have a set of 14" American Racing Libre wheels I'm thinking of selling. Three are Very nice and one has a few blems on the bead I think from a tread separation and the tire went down. Anyhow, what do you guys think these would be worth realistically? No pics as of now. April 1, 201114 yr comment_351636 Last set of 4 with center caps I had went for $400 and they were polished. A new 510 owner here in town needed them more than I did. Some of that was him paying for mounting and balancing my tires on new ZX wheels which I liked better anyway. April 1, 201114 yr Author comment_351640 I only have three of the center caps that are original but need new center emblems, no biggie there as they easily peel off. I spent a little while polishing one of the wheels the other night and I was amazed at the results. Just need to get after the other three now... No pics as of now.Their value most likely has gone down since there is now a close knock off available from VTO Racing. Which is most often the case when this happens. April 1, 201114 yr Author comment_351729 JohnnyT, I agree with that for sure. I know they are worth what somebody will pay for them and all that. I guess I should have asked what a reasonable starting point should be. I suppose I'll finish polishing them out and put them on CL and see where it goes Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39100-what-are-a-set-of-libre-14s-worth/#findComment-351729 Share on other sites
April 4, 201113 yr comment_352007 These are Libras right? If so, I think I will post this in the rim thread, as many like myself want a set of these 4 spoke wheels. April 4, 201113 yr comment_352010 These are Libras right?Yes. Either Libres (made by American Racing) or one of many look-alikes (made by Shelby, US Mag, etc.). April 4, 201113 yr comment_352045 I like the libre but you are so limited on tires, that is why I use ZX 15. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39100-what-are-a-set-of-libre-14s-worth/#findComment-352045 Share on other sites
April 5, 201113 yr comment_352062 Hi guys , always like posts about Libre's . When I bought my 71 these where on the car . I love the look , although my teenage sons keep telling me to get with the times and buy some new wheels and tires . i suspect I will but i want to get another summer with this wheel set . Yes there are very few performance options , but I am leaning towards falken Azenies , they come in a 195 60 14 for a little over 110 $ Canadian a piece . My libre's are the shelbys with all four center caps . I tumbled the caps in a rock tumbler that was filled with stainless steel pins and shot . The pits in the pot metal where almost completely removed and I then sprayed them with black chrome paint . In the direct sun the contrast between the caps and the graphite spokes looks great IMO . They will be sold next year and I hope I can get 6-700 with the azenies . Thanx for reading Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39100-what-are-a-set-of-libre-14s-worth/#findComment-352062 Share on other sites
April 5, 201113 yr comment_352080 I have a set of Libre copies that I've had in storage since 1986. They are only 5.5" wide, so I pulled them off a car I bought and have never used them since. If anybody is looking for a set, let me know. April 5, 201113 yr Author comment_352084 I put mine up on Modesto C.L. if you guys know of anyone who might be interested. I'm gonna keep the slots that are on my car for now and use the Libre cash to help fund a new exhaust. April 5, 201113 yr comment_352085 I'd actually love to have a set of Libres or clones. (Or even better, a set of American Racing LeMans.) But my wife might kill me if I snagged yet another set of Z wheels...
