Just found a nice 240Z (1973) .

-Replaced the front bushings with polys and struts and ball joints too.

-The front driver strut looks as if it is closer to the tire than the passneger side (noted at the bottom spring cup area).

-Took it to the alignement shop and got these numbers:

Left front Right front

1 1/2 degree Neg. Camber 1 degree Pos.

2 1/2 degree Pos. Caster 3 degree Pos.

toe= Zero

Any suggestions?

If the alignment shop had measured SAI (steering axis inclination) you would have a better idea if you had a bent strut. Good SAI and bad camber means bent strut or spindle. Bad SAI usually means bent frame/control arm/etc but does not indicate a bent strut but does not rule it out either. From your numbers and your observation it sounds like a bent strut.

Was looking more closely at the strut today and it may be the culprit. I noticed a weld bead all the way around the lower tube as it attahes to the spindle section. I wonder if it can be straightened out or if used ones are available. gi

Would a 280z strut assy work?

-It seems to use the same caliper/ inner & outer brgs/ball joint/lwr arm, but the rotor seems to be different.

Strut tube and spring seat on 280Z is different. You'd need a 240Z or early 260Z strut.
