Well, I went to Ripley's Muffler & Brake today to take some preliminary pictures of my chassis before tear down begins. I bought a spindle pin puller for $40, I think I am set to go. I plan on coming to my first Houston Z Club meeting on Tuesday, and by that point the car will probably be on cinder blocks.

Here is a rundown on what is going on...

Energy Suspension Black Poly bushing kit.

4 new KYB struts

4 Eibach Springs

Media blast all suspension components and paint with Rust Oleum Flat Black Oil Based paint. Mix in some semi gloss at about 4 to 1 flat to semi to give the chassis a little more sheen.

I would go for Tokico (HP or Illumina) inserts. I installed HPs and the ride is great. Some KYB inserts were in there before the rebuild and they were too soft for my liking.

I see some strange stuff in your pics, BTW. Picture 6 and 7 show some metal plates that aren't stock.

I've got the HP's as well and like them.

I don't see anything in pic 6 or 7 that isn't stock ?

I've never seen the plates under the differential in pic 6 nor the plate covering the LCA bolt in pic 7.

The plate under the differential is a damper, and a good spot to jack the car up. It is stock on a 280z. The other plate in pic 7, is actually a rubber flap, backed by a sheet metal bracket. it is stock as well, not sure the original purpose but it's fabricated like a splash guard or something.

Strange, those parts definitely don't look like they came out of the factory. Guess I haven't been around many stock 280Zs...

The plate on my 1976 has the plate in picture 6, The plate in picture 7 i did not have.

Found some more I took. 30+ years of dirt, grime and rust.

Well I got both spindle pins out, second one pretty much destroyed my puller tool I bought. Those bastards are really in there.

I am going to media blast in a blast cabinet all my suspension parts. My half shaft u joints seem to be in fine condition; would it harm the u joints to put them in the blast cabinet as well to blast the half shafts for paint?

All vertical suspension parts should be done with OEM rubber and horizontal parts done in polyurethane. Less squeaks, good riding car but a great handling car.
