Posted May 1, 201113 yr comment_354539 wassup guys i was just wondering if anyone has done a efi conversion using triple carbs? reason why i asked is because i have 3 japanese mags that had a tech article on how to convert your triples to efi itbs but the thing that sucks about it is that i cant read japanese.my guess is that its something like this:http://www.zccjdm.com/catalog.php/azcarbum/dt84283/pd1957179/D__O.E.R._SPORT_INJECTION_KITS_ Edited May 1, 201113 yr by cheezee Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39433-mikuni-converted-to-efi/ Share on other sites
May 1, 201113 yr comment_354540 I read about converting carbs to TBI somewhere, but I can't remember where. All I remember is that it wasn't in Japanese. You might wander through the MegaSquirt website and peruse the discussion boards there. That *might* be where I saw the discussion. May 1, 201113 yr comment_354559 check over on http://www.hybridz.org. It is a fairly common conversion and you should be able to find what you need there. May 3, 201113 yr comment_354679 Yes I would love to here why it would be a waste of time? I will say from the research I've done that it would be bi%ch to tune. getting a good vacuum signal to dial in a ECU is a bit tricky with TBI's. May 3, 201113 yr comment_354680 Interesting, I do not have a dog in this hunt but was interested in you expanded opinion on this. I can see your point, I know from past experience that although the trip mks are great for power and through jetting etc very versatile they can be a b****. What you are saying is that the addition of EFI only exasperates this issue. “The gain isn’t worth the painâ€. May 4, 201113 yr comment_354735 If you had 6 throttle body injectors would you need 6 wide band O2 sensors? I don't know. There was a member of this site a while back who had a setup like that and loved it. (I think he was in Hawaii) It would be better to hear from him, than to just speculate and bloatavate. May 4, 201113 yr comment_354752 It can be done effectively and be beneficial over carbs. It becomes no different than any other ITB EFI setup. No you don't even need ONE wideband O2 sensor to make it work. Although, one in the collector would be a good tool for tuning. A simple balance tube can work fine for gathering MAP. Getting a smooth MAP signal is the largest hurdle in the conversion, and can be done by the balance tube and handled further with the software in the EFI.
