any way to clean windshield wiper squirters

Recommended Posts

I cleaned my windshield washer tank AND put a brand new motor in it, and it pumps like the ****ens. BUT my windshield wiper squirters are just plain clogged. I do no have a needle small enough to sick in there. Any advice?

Boiling them maybe.

Does anybody sell them?

Use a piece of mig wire 0.035 diameter, stiff enough to push through without bending and soft enough as not to brake. Make sure the end is burr free, hit it with a file before you insert it. Worked well in mine, they were totally blocked and spit in my face when I poked the wire in at first, so relieve the pressure prior to poking as well.

I removed mine from the firewall. Warmed the tubing very gently with a heat gun to remove the nozzle assembly. Soaked in CLR cleaner to remove the internal corrosion. Tried the methods used by other Posters but poking wire seemed to only remove the clog for awhile. Every time I would "ream" with wire, the nozzles would start to clog again shortly after- three times in as many weeks, regardless of how vigorous I poked the wire through. Haven't had to clean the nozzles in nearly a year. Just don't enlarge the opening or you'll be spraying the cars behind you and empty the supply bottle quickly!

Pickle juice.

Yeah, that kind of took me aback also. The vinegar might be okay but the salt, calcium chloride, dill, etc. would worry me. I've used torch tip cleaners and Lime Away which is similar to CLR with success.
