Posted May 1, 201113 yr comment_354617 I just picked up a freebie 71 240Z from a client. Body and chassis are in excellent shape. Interior is pretty bad, especially the seats from some for some number of years of setting outside in the sun. Engine is mostly there, except for looks like someone took off the smog pump and a few of the misc. hoses. Just wondering what most of you of you are using for your 240z "bible", anything besides a Haynes manual? Also, since i'm smog exempt in my area, any details on mods to eliminate the smog pump and corresponding hoses etc? This is going to be my daughter's car btw. She's the other monkey wrencher in the family in exchange for all the help she's given me for working on my chevelle. Great forum you guys have going BTW! May 2, 201113 yr comment_354628 You can't beat the original two factory manuals: One being Body and Chassis and the other Engine. May 2, 201113 yr comment_354644 Keep an eye on Ebay and Amazon for used paper copies of the FSM. Nothing beats being able to spread out the FSM atop your engine while you're working on it. May 7, 201113 yr comment_355009 I used a 5 speed from an 1980zx. Its been working great. I know there are different ratios with different years but I think the main difference is the borg warner T5. And then of course the differential ... there is a bunch of choices. I think the differential makes a bigger difference... but, what do I know :-)Good luck Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39442-another-noob-to-the-forumswhats-the-best-manual-for-a-240z/#findComment-355009 Share on other sites
