studioti Posted May 3, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 3, 2011 I would really like to paint my car the specific blue in this picture. I am referring to the S30 in the pic. I've been to the Datsun paint code gallery and can't really be definitive if it's 903 dark met blue. Thanks for any info.
spitz17 Posted May 3, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 3, 2011 Looks like my old car's 903 blue. It's definitely not 915 blue, as that is more metallic.
cygnusx1 Posted May 3, 2011 Share #3 Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) If the car above is not in original paint code, then it might be this color. This is Tommy Sullivan's 280Z in its original blue paint. 307 Blue Metallic However the 240Z in original paint will be code 903 which is similar to the 307 for the 280Z. cygnusx1 Posted May 4, 2011 Share #6 Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) It looks most like 280Z/307 to me. Photos are tough to judge though.I brought 907, 307 and the mystery car into photoshop. I let photoshop autobalance the photographs for white balance, then I took samples of different lighted areas of the cars. There are many spots where the mystery car is a very close match to 307. 907 had less in common with the mystery car. studioti Posted May 4, 2011 Author Share #7 Posted May 4, 2011 Thanks guys. I'm glad to see it wasn't just me having trouble. Looking at both 903 and 307 I would be happy with either. So does anyone here have a suggestion on where to find this paint? Nissan dealer? Thanks
spitz17 Posted May 4, 2011 Share #8 Posted May 4, 2011 If you ask a dealer, they will look at you funny. If you are looking for touch-up paint... there isn't really a great match out there. I've looked, purchased, and failed. Your best luck will be asking a body shop to replicate it for you, although I do not know how many shops would be willing to do this. If you are looking to repaint your car, I am sure other members can direct you to a qualified shop in SoCal
Coolvibes86 Posted May 4, 2011 Share #9 Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) To me it looks like a different paint color i've seen from a Subaru before. Newport Blue is the color, the lighting reflects it about the same on the airdam in both pics. here is a pic of it Edited May 4, 2011 by Coolvibes86
studioti Posted May 4, 2011 Author Share #10 Posted May 4, 2011 Has anyone ever used this website? I was able to put in my year make model and they actually have the same paint codes as in the Z gallery. which gives me some confidence that they can match it...? sort of?..hahahttp://www.automotivetouchup.com/
