Added the left-side blocks to the forum area. All forums should now have this feature. Previously it was only visible on the main forum page. This should look more like our old forum making it easier for users to navigate the site.

I will be adding other features to the left column as I move through the site improvements.

I also modified the left block width to 200 pixels, was at 270 (a bit too wide for my taste).

Wish I had the first clue what you are talking about.....

Oh, how's digging "what's new" out from behind the search box coming? thought so..... nyuck nyuck

And the two boxes under "home Forum and garage" still have two sets of print one over the other.

Perpetual whiner..... finding alternate ways in baby, alternate ways in.....

Mike, regarding Bruce's problems - is there any way to combine some of the lesser-used navigation buttons into a drop-down? That would make the site much more friendly to people who use lower screen resolution. My testing is showing that the buttons don't display properly if the screen width is less than 1152 pixels. I'm thinking about things like the Downloads button, which is rarely (if ever) used.

If combining buttons isn't possible, can the Search box be moved out of that button row?

@Bruce - if you could tolerate having everything on your screen look a bit smaller (so more would fit), contact me and I'll see if I can talk you through changing your screen settings.

Great! I have a request:

Can you have threads open in new tabs/windows (i.e.change the hyper-link properties of the thread title in the list)?

Thanks as always.

That might be nice, especially if it could be done as a user preference. External links in a post already do this. I typically do it manually, but being able to set that as a preference might be nice. I don't know that I'd want it to be global (not user-selectable), as there are many people who might not like that.

@Bruce/Arne, I'm still looking at ways to either move the search bar or consolidate the menu tabs. Right now there's no clean way to do it. Don't lose faith though, I'll keep poking around at it, I haven't forgotten about this one. :) I actually have a good measurement using my iPad, if that works, I know your resolution works.

@Blue, I like the idea about opening in a new tab. However, to Arne's point, there might be users who won't like it. This is one of those personal preference things. Can you use the right-click option and select "open in new tab" on the link itself? If I understand the need, I think this would do exactly what you need.

@Bruce, you'll see the left column on all of the forums, even if you open a new thread. Originally the left column was only on the main forum page. Not a big deal, just a usability thing.
