Posted May 5, 201113 yr comment_354844 My temp gauge has been erratic, so I bought a coolant temp sensor. Beck Arnley Part# 158-0134. Rock Auto confirms this is correct sensor... http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.phpThere are three somethings threaded into the thermostat housing. The Beck Arnley part is 18mm, I took one out that was 23mm, the female plug end on the new sensor wasn't right. The other sensor that is in there I didn't bother to remove because the plug on that was not going to work with the new sensor either. Am I looking in the wrong spot? Is the cataloging wrong? What three things are tapped in to the thermostat housing? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39478-coolant-temperature-sensor/ Share on other sites
May 5, 201113 yr comment_354859 Check w/Courtesy Nissan in Big D. They'll have the part and info you need. If it was a 240, I'd know... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39478-coolant-temperature-sensor/#findComment-354859 Share on other sites
May 5, 201113 yr comment_354884 that is one of the temp sensors. there are 3 (ish) the thermotine switch, and 2 sensors. one sensor feeds data to the computer (this is the one you have, 2 connector plug) then one runs the temperature gauge on the dash, that is only one bullet connectorAIRTEX / WELLS Part # 1T1181 is the better choice because it has the threads built in, or STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # TS69 http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=935425hope this helps. May 5, 201113 yr Author comment_354909 Well I took off the one bullet connector and much to my surprise there was corrosion all over the male end of the connector. I took a scotchbrite pad, scuffed it and used electrical contact cleaner on the sensor and harness and now my gauge reads very accurately. May 5, 201113 yr comment_354911 Glad you figured it out, yes the bullet connector is the temp sensor that is attached to your gauge. The one you bought from Rock Auto is the one that hooks into your computer.
