i am in the process of rebuilding the front suspension and stirring.

i have a couple of question.

my 72z is not for race, it is for work transport.

1. which bushing is preferrable a) rubber bushing or B) Polyurethane.

2. original strut (hydraulic fluid) cartridge or gas cartridge.

3. original r180 rear or r200?

4. 4spd or '79 5 spd (i have both)?

5. i know a 240z is a small car, is it capable of hauling a seadoo trir?

6. original exhaust or headers?

i thank you so much.

My choices would be:

1. Polyurethane

2. Gas cartridge, not sure you can even find a fluid type anymore

3. R-180, lighter and it's already in there, no parts to buy to convert

4. 5 speed, especially since you could then lower the rear gear for more benefit of the 5 speed. 4 speed if you don't plan on doing any more drastic changes to the car.

5. Probably, if you can find a way to mount the hitch that is....

6. Header and a good quality 2 1/2 inch turbo exhaust

When or if you do the bushings, do a search on the site, there are many threads dealing with this sometimes aggravating job..

One good reason to use the poly bushings is that they last longer. I have heard that you can experience some noises, but I dont know that for sure.

Given that you will be using it as a daily driver you should probably opt for the 5 speed as it will give you better highway RPMs.

I will defer to the pro's like 2Many as to what type of insert and what type of rear end you should use.

Dont think I would tow anything with the Z, but if you see it as a necessity yous should be able to get a 1" square hitch from uHaul -- not sure what the weight rating would be, but Sea Doos are not all that heavy...

My $.02 and how I would do it...
