Posted May 9, 201113 yr comment_355187 i've got a FS5W71C from a z31 on-turbo, problem is the bell housing wont fit my L28. I understand i will need the l28 bell housing, but will i need to machine any new clearances for the bearings? Or should i just sell this thing and get a 280zx transmission? (if anyone wants this thing its 100$ + shipping, it has 60k miles) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39517-transmission-fitting-issues/ Share on other sites
May 9, 201113 yr comment_355199 V6 and I6 require different BHs. Take the easy and cheapest route and get the ZX tranny. A lot fewer headaches. May 9, 201113 yr comment_355207 Just a suggestion I read a while back Austin Hoke makes an adaptor plate to mount the 300zx tranny to the L28. austin.hoke@vq240z.com thats his email and you can always contact him to see if he still has it available. May 9, 201113 yr comment_355222 Does Z31 have Borg Warner Trans? If so you have to mess with different trans mount, drive shaft, clutch slave and so on.I would get 280ZX trans(Non turbo) 1979-1980 trans: wide ratio 1981-1983 non turbo is close ratio. 1982-83 Turbo: Borg Warner(not recommended, because parts are not really available and you have to modify cross memebr and drive shaft) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39517-transmission-fitting-issues/#findComment-355222 Share on other sites
