Posted May 9, 201113 yr comment_355246 So I am trying to sort out a fuel gauge problem by a process of elimination, and at the back are 3 wires/contacts black, yellow and green.I am going to test the gauge with a 6v battery but which of the contacts do I use the tester on...??Thanks,JK Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39523-fuel-gauge-wires/ Share on other sites
May 10, 201113 yr comment_355287 I don't have your answer, but I can offer you the same advice most new people get. You really want/need a copy of Datsun's Factory Service Manual for your car. It's got all this information. You can either download it for free (try searching this site for a link), or you can pick up a hard copy occasionally on Ebay or Amazon for around $80 (in good condition). I prefer the physical book, which can be spread out over your work area. BTW, welcome! May 11, 201113 yr comment_355390 When you look at the wiring diagram, you'll see the wires are color coded with often strange abbreviations, but there's a key at the lower right (?) of each schematic diagram.Good luck! May 11, 201113 yr Author comment_355413 Hi,Managed to sort things, the wiring over the years had been messed with and some of the colours at the tank end were wrong. got the gauge reading again, and also checked out the temp gauge which is fine just needs a new sender unit..happy days.
