Posted May 11, 201113 yr comment_355422 I decided to have my 240z dipped instead of powder blasted, by a company in Eugene Oregon. Really happy with the results. If anyone is interested in the process, they posted before and after pics on their web site - www.metaldipping.com. May 11, 201113 yr comment_355436 Great move, I was disappointed that my 72 was not dipped (72 is at Classic Datsun Motorsports for complete restoration). jlp Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39541-chemical-dipping-72-240z/#findComment-355436 Share on other sites

May 11, 201113 yr comment_355440 Here's a pricing page I found:http://www.metaldipping.com/pricing-package.phpConsidering how many hours it actually takes to blast and DA sand an entire Z I would say that similar pricing to say a VW ($1500) is fair. Wish they had something like this by me 2 years ago when I stripped my car.... May 11, 201113 yr comment_355441 Its a great concept but make double sure that they have rinsed ALL the acid away because I'm not convinced it comes out of all the seams etc. I had my 68 Charger dipped and e coated but the body shop had to unpick all the overlaps and obviously there are many they cannot get to. I got caight out in the rain once and there are various orange streaks here and there. Just want you to be prepared. all done Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39541-chemical-dipping-72-240z/#findComment-355441 Share on other sites
May 11, 201113 yr comment_355445 How did a beautiful piece of American engineering like that make it across the pond? You probably own the only 68 Charger in the UK. Very nice! May 12, 201113 yr Author comment_355471 It was right at $1,500, chassie, hood, doors, hatch. Start to finish, one week. Their final process was a light coat of rust inhibitor - which is NOT compatible with POR 15. After reading quite a few posts here, some with the same concern as Viper, I pressure washed it for about an hour. The best part was total removal of rust, saved tons of time.
