May 13, 201113 yr comment_355614 As a kid, I remember seeing these in the late 60's in our 'wish book', J.C. Whitney. May 14, 201113 yr comment_355676 Has anyone used one of these? It seems, by the nature of toilet tissue, that it would break down and clog up every passage in your engine. jlp Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39557-stilko-external-oil-filter-with-toilet-paper-replacement/#findComment-355676 Share on other sites

May 14, 201113 yr comment_355679 Wow the Franz Oil Filter!I used this back in the 80's on my 77 Datsun pickup. I don't remember ever having a problem with it. As I recall it was recommended to use their brand of paper as it was a lot more dense than normal t-paper. I did replace it with standard t-paper and it ran fine it didn't break down. When I did go to replace the roll, it was just a in tact oil-soaked roll of toilet paper.Like I said...it ran fine. This was in the mid 80's. Would I use it again? I doubt it. I wish I could offer solid evidence either way. It appears to be used extensively in the trucking industry with good results but I defer those who are better informed.Dave Ruiz Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39557-stilko-external-oil-filter-with-toilet-paper-replacement/#findComment-355679 Share on other sites

May 16, 201113 yr comment_355951 My dad used to use a kotex (or that "type" of product) in the old chevy. Never thought a thing about it at the time. I'll have to check the old Chrysler and see if it has a roll in it. (it doesn't get driven much). I know the old Volvo uses a cartridge but a roll "can be used in an emergency". One wouldn't think the oil could get through in a timely manner and it would just go through the bypass. May 16, 201113 yr comment_355965 I used them. There 50's 60's tech, yes they work, ment for cars that had no filter, no I would not want to run one now. Not even if I thought they were cool. Buy an Oberg, same idea, newer tech.
