Posted May 14, 201113 yr comment_355787 This is my first time messing with a piston engine (im a rotary guy) I was looking at the FSm and i cant figure out where these last few hoses connect to, i do not have AC Or a heater. Also, can i just take connect the engine out hose that normally connects to the heater core, and just send it directly to the return? May 15, 201113 yr comment_355803 I've seen it recommended that it's better to block off the water hoses than to bypass them. Search "heater" and "cooling" on Hybridz.Best guesses on the hoses - 1. Ported vacuum from the throttle body - distributor vacuum advance and ??2. Same.3. Charcoal canister4. AC control reservoir5 or 6 - Brake booster, can't see the picture clearly.All memory and guesses but I think they make sense. When you get the engine in the car it will be more clear. May 15, 201113 yr Author comment_355808 I wont be running the charcoal canister until i find one, i've heard stories that it can be... dangerous in hot weather, here in NY it'll be 90 one day and 50 the next i think i'll be okay for a week or two. Can i just plug the AC and canister hole for now? 6 is the large tube at the back of the manifold, 5 is an L shaped fitting, here is a better picture Also for the dizzy vacuum advance, im a bit confused, i only have 1 hose port on the distributor, the other hose is for? May 16, 201113 yr comment_355910 #7 is the fast idle for AC, comes off the magnet valve. Since you don't have that, you can remove that whole piece and clean up the manifold.I can't remember #2 and my car is at the painter. May 16, 201113 yr comment_355926 Oddly, that part on the throttle body (the dashpot) isn't really supposed to have a hose attached to it, appearances to the contrary. All the part does is to ease the throttle down when you come off the pedal. May 16, 201113 yr comment_355927 I think your #2 is the vacuum supply from the throttle body to the thermal vacuum valve, which supplies vacuum to the EGR system. I don't know what year your car is ('78?), but there's a vacuum tubing diagram in the Emissions Control section of the factory service manual, fig. EC-14. You can download the FSM for free, or you can buy a used hardcopy off of Ebay or Amazon. I prefer having the book, myself, because you can spread it out over your work area, unlike your computer.
