jackneuf Posted May 19, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 19, 2011 http://www.groupharrington.com/en/part/36/datsun-240z-and-260z-bumpers.html I was looking for the older style bumpers and and just said what the heck and purchased the pricey stainless steel bumpers. I found a local Z car guru that had the correct mounting brackets, and now it is time to install. I am in the procedure of installing just need the time. I sanded most of the rust of the old/new bumper mounts used some OSPHO (an acid) just for kicks on the remaining rust. Removed the old front bumper, bumper mounts, and the grill. Currently priming and painting the old/new mounts Here are some pictures
idoxlr8 Posted May 21, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 21, 2011 I'm going this route on my 260 as well. Are you filling the holes left by the shock struts in the rear?Is it all 72' brackets to make it work?ThanksDean
jackneuf Posted May 22, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted May 22, 2011 I just work slow, and have not worked my way to the back of the car yet. I am going to buy some new bolts to mount the front bumper today before work. From the information I have gathered it seems that the mounting brackets have to be from any z car older then the 73 240zs. So a 71 would woork etc. I dont think, I am going to fill in any holes left by the old brackets just in case I want to go back. But I will let you know when I make it to the Zs tail. jackneuf Posted May 22, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted May 22, 2011 Dean, regarding the rear bumper and if I am filling the holes left by the shock struts in the rear? My 73 does not have any rear shock struts that need to be filled no GOV. mandate for safer bumpers in the tail in the 73z yet, I suppose.
jackneuf Posted July 15, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted July 15, 2011 Still in progress, I have just sanded and primed 72 rear bumper mounts. Need to paint then install to finish the job. School/work/and the lovely gf just eat the clock every day, it seems. New z projects have grown anyways, rebello 3.0L, 5 speed, flywheel, clutch, headers, exhaust and the debate over the arizona manifold and carbs are up for debate.
