Posted May 24, 201113 yr comment_356660 Here's what I'm looking at getting:1979 280-zx 2+2 with five speed. 140xxx miles on it.I want the five speed in the 260z. Besides getting a new clutch kit, will those parts swap over exactly into the 260z? Will I need to do some adjustments or anything? Any additional parts need to be ordered? May 24, 201113 yr comment_356663 If you search transmission swap, 240Z, or 280Z on Google, this forum and other forums you will find a lot of good reading. This topic comes up all of the time and there are several good write-ups around the internet. The 2+2 probably has the 240mm clutch and flywheel, and your 260Z has a 225 mm setup. So you would need to move the flywheel over also. May 24, 201113 yr Author comment_356704 Ok, cool. I'll need a breaker bar and some patience for that one. I'm really only concerned about compatibility with the shifting lever, boot and driveshaft (I would prefer to avoid cutting). May 25, 201113 yr Author comment_356752 Hey guys, just found an 1981 280zx non turbo FI with a five speed. Is that still compatible with the 260z?
