Road Trip for the Texan Twins!

Recommended Posts

I got to admit the stars must be lined up correctly because I've had the most unbelievable opportunity offered to me. Many of us dream and acheive of restoring a 240Z, well, I have manage to stumble into buy 2 1971 240Z in Texas hence the reference "Texan Twin".

Both of these cars have number matching motors, 1 car is an AZ car, other car is Southern Cal. car, both have no rust, Type B trans for both, (1) 5 spd trans, plus over $9,000 in new parts. Both cars are ready for prepping for paint just need to do the final surface work.

My daughter (11yrs) and I will leave for Texas on her last day of school for the summer to pick them up. Our jouney will start out from Wisconsin, unfortunately, I will have to do this in two trips but that is ok, since I converted my 2003 Dodge Ram to vegetable oil 62,000 miles ago. Will be able to run almost all the way down and back around Des Moines before I will have to run diesel.

I am sure I will have numerous used parts available based on being replaced with new parts and will for sure offer them on this site for others who may be in need.

This is going to be way cool!

What a tremendous opportunity for you and your daughter, you may have budding gearhead on your hands. Do take lots of pics all along the way, be sure and get that little girl in them so both of you can relive the journey in the future years.

And of course, we are all jealous as all get-out over anyone who can get two 71's at the same time. Good luck and have fun.

Yesterday, I went and picked up the 24ft trailer for the trip.

Now, I just have to put 100 gallons of oil on the truck and another 100 gallons in barrels and I am good to go non-stop 2300 miles without refueling. Departure day is getting closer.
