June 4, 201311 yr comment_424869 Guy, did your ITM's come with rings? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39741-new-engine/?&page=9#findComment-424869 Share on other sites
June 4, 201311 yr Author comment_424870 Yes, but I haven't got them yet....they're coming in a separate box. I'll let you know what they look like when I get them. I just like Perfect Circle, Total Seal or Nissan rings. The oil rings and spreaders are excellent on all 3. June 4, 201311 yr comment_424871 I'm on a tighter budget than you, so I went with Sealed Power for my current build. The three you listed are double the price. June 5, 201311 yr comment_424900 Thanks guys for the ITM info. Will likely use on one of my current builds.Guy, since you have become such a fan of rod / stroke ratio, have you considered something more radical like what Eiji does? June 5, 201311 yr Author comment_424902 Not really.....I just enjoy working with different stock mods and combos.......adding some ponies makes these cars much more fun to drive. I was in Eiji's shop Sunday.......really, really cool stuff.....he's got tons of replated and restored motor parts......he is a true craftsman and a really good friend. He loves the L series motors! BTW....There are two sets on eBay as we speak. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39741-new-engine/?&page=9#findComment-424902 Share on other sites
June 5, 201311 yr comment_424913 Guy when you replace pistons do you have the internal rotating assembly rebalanced...crank, rods, new pistons? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39741-new-engine/?&page=9#findComment-424913 Share on other sites

June 5, 201311 yr Author comment_424929 Thanks EuroDat......good stuff. JR.......I haven't balanced any of my motors to date....I am going to balance the bottom end on this one. I've heard from more than one source that the Z engines came pretty much balanced from the factory. Don't know if it'll be noticeable, but will be interested to find out.....if I can even tell. I would think that a race car that lives at high rpm would certainly need balancing ......not sure about a street car. June 5, 201311 yr comment_424940 Guy, you could always give Yoda, er.. Eiji a call and I am sure he could help you out! I am thinking about getting my old 70,000 mile L24 out of storage and cleaning it up shiney and new. I may even pull the head and get some work done. Just for fun!
