Posted June 2, 201113 yr comment_357565 I just received the right front door seal from MSA today (still waiting for the left one). I am unsure on the installation. Other than the three clips the end looks a little confusing where it meets the window seal and ss trim, do I use glue there? I am having a hard time finding pictures of this part properly installed. Anyone have pictures of this part installed from the factory or after restoration? June 2, 201113 yr comment_357573 Nissan did a lousy job on their reproduction....try to find a used one and spray it with black interior color dye. I just went through the same situation. June 2, 201113 yr comment_357577 First time posting photos on new format. Hope this works and helps, even if it is the left. Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39768-front-door-seal-pics/#findComment-357577 Share on other sites
June 2, 201113 yr Author comment_357603 Thanks Bonzi. So is the seal glued to the ss window channel? do you have a picture of the seal showing the outside wher it meets the lower window area? June 3, 201113 yr Author comment_357725 here is the questionable area. nobody has a picture of this area factory original or otherwise? Glue or no? this part is not that pricey but it has taken 5 months for delivery and I don't want to screw it up. June 4, 201113 yr comment_357738 I recently put my car back together and the top part of the rubber just tucked under the door panel and chrome trim.No glue required. June 4, 201113 yr comment_357740 I seem to recall that the originals I removed when I painted the car (can it have been 3 years already?) were glued. In any case, I used a touch of weatherstrip adhesive on mine. But after three years, they have shrunk and pulled loose. Sometime soon I'll need to do something about those. This is also confirmed in a book "How to Restore Your Datsun 240Z" written by Wick Humble. I am not at home so can't give you a page reference right now in case you had that book. Maybe someone else can substantiate this.Dan Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39768-front-door-seal-pics/#findComment-357745 Share on other sites
June 4, 201113 yr Author comment_357793 thanks, I seem to recall these glued on my car also but I was not sure if if this was original or something the PO did. June 4, 201113 yr comment_357796 I just looked at my original rubber door seals, they look identical to your pics. when the door is closed the flap seals to the jamb gasket, presumably to deflect water away from the window squeegie. Although it does look like mine has been trimmed.
