Posted June 10, 201113 yr comment_358352 I've found a 76 parts car with a complete A/C system in it. Will this system fit in my early 74 260? If I could do this swap without much heartburn, I may look at doing it. If it's a big pain, I'll pass and stick with the original 2/70 system. June 11, 201113 yr Author comment_358369 Sorry, I just noticed that I titled the thread wrong. I'm wanting to know if I can put a 76 280 A/C system in my early 74 260. June 13, 201113 yr comment_358516 Yup... Same dash, same controls. My son has a '76 with factory A/C. I have an early (07/74) 260 with stock factory A/C. There's virtually no difference (only how the tubing on the high pressure side is placed along the passenger side of the engine bay...). I could swap mine to his and his to mine.Although his was running R12 until the end of last summer, we've converted both to R134a.
