Posted June 11, 201113 yr comment_358391 Does anyone know what Nissan-Datsun vehicles have this diff ratio? If I found an R-200 3.7 LSD I would use it, but those are rarer than rare...I want this particular final drive ratio, so I thought I'd ask the forum about locating a standard open diff version and if so, is it hard to find? Has anyone done it and what car did it come out of, Z or non-Z? Thanks for any clues Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39860-37-ratio-r180-differential/ Share on other sites
June 11, 201113 yr comment_358399 I don't know what car it came out of but that's what I have, I think it may have come out of a 240sx but I can't be sure. I had to swap over the flages from the old diff to the new one as it had the plug in style flanges. I did that about 12 years ago with a "B" four speed box from a 280Z and L28 motor and Su's, runs like a scalded cat. June 11, 201113 yr comment_358401 The 810 sedans and RWD Maximas all had a 3.70 R180 regardless of transmission. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39860-37-ratio-r180-differential/#findComment-358401 Share on other sites
June 11, 201113 yr comment_358407 So did many of the front drivetrains on 4X4 pickups 90s era. And they have the benefit of very little use. FYI Kenz240z has one we found in a pick-n-pull. There should be a lot of them in the j.y.s. I got a 4:11 from an 80s era 240 SX, also.Cheers, Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39860-37-ratio-r180-differential/#findComment-358407 Share on other sites
June 11, 201113 yr comment_358408 I have a 3.7 that I bought from a member on this site. It was out of an 810 and was in pristine condition. It is on the car with an '82 zx five speed and is a great combo-slightly taller than the 3.9's that came on the zx's but the S30's are lighter. At 85mph I'm at about 3,100 rpm. June 12, 201113 yr Author comment_358480 looks like I'll be scouting for 810s & Maximas...automatic trans cars preferably since the diff abuse would be less over time (that makes sense, right?). Thanks gang! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39860-37-ratio-r180-differential/#findComment-358480 Share on other sites

June 15, 201113 yr Author comment_358817 Yes indeed very interesting. But I'll wait for the $50 300Z diff to appear in the local pick&pull, long shot I know. Correct me if I'm wrong, to install the 3.7 CLSD R200 from a 300ZXt into an S30, not only do the side stubs needs to be swapped from a standard S30 R200, but also the front driveshaft flange/yoke...and if that front one is changed, doesn't the bearing crush for the pinion gear shaft have to be re-calibrated? October 27, 201113 yr comment_370357 According to Datsun Z garage "the '87-89 (300ZX) LSD was a 3.70" Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39860-37-ratio-r180-differential/#findComment-370357 Share on other sites
January 20, 201213 yr comment_378278 Issue is important for me because I suffer the same problem and has bought close to r200 of 300zx model 88, but until now did not try it but now I am in trouble with the Differential Skyline GTS Model 92 LS d, but very bad in terms of speed of 140 km and the RPM 4500 almost gear propelled 25 turbo engine and Skyline GTS Turbo, but my advice in r200 of the X-Z 300 Model 88 for he is the only control on the 240z.
