What's up with Tabco?

Tabco generally sell less then 1% of their products retail. The vast majority of their sales are to companies like MSA, BD, CPD, etc. which send in purchase orders by mail or e-mail. Tell me again why they should spend hours updating a sales channel that is less then 1% of their gross? IMHO, they should just delete it and have a page with their phone number and contact info.
Don't get me wrong, I agree as well. Makes far more sense for them to sell retail only over the phone. Thing is, I've dealt with them as well, and was told the exact same thing, "we're in the process of updating." And that was in 2005....

Well the way I see it if they have the attitude you have of not dealing with the 1% they should remove the pricing from the website otherwise they should honor it, not call/email the customer after the order is sent in to tell you the price is double. I faxed mine since that was one of the options on their order form.

Well, I'm gonna try to make the original replacement panel fit. For some reason, it was about 1/4 inch short on the front, so I welded a small strip and it seems to do the trick. I'll try and get some pics tomorrow to show what I'm doing.

Most likely they had an IT guy that convinced management that a Web site would make them some money. He built the original site and it didn't bring in enough money to pay for itself and the development costs. He then convinced them that all it needed was an update. They spent more money on that and the IT guy quit (or was fired for watching porn) before implementation. So now management wants nothing to do with the "Web", shouts down anyone who talked about the "Web", and now focuses their time and energy on stuff that actually makes money and keeps the company alive during this recession.

Again, I agree. But in that case, shut it off. Don't leave it up with badly outdated data. That just makes your company look incompetent. Better to have nothing, than to have something that reflects poorly on the company.
