Hello all. I am the proud owner of an early 74 260z. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am saving it from certain future in rust heaven. When I bought it the guy told me it had rusty rockers, and the front fenders could sue a little work. Well about a week later I heard a grinding underneath my feet whenever I would take a right hand corner at speed. Well I had a look and it was the floor pan scraping along the highway. GREAT! Whenever I would drive above 50 miles an hour the pan would get sucked down and make this noise. I took it into a body shop to see about getting it patched.. well he just looked at me and flat out said no. He wouldnt even look at it unless I was going to do it right. Well, to make a long story short, my car is down to the body, both exterior and interior have been removed and I am going from the frame(unibody) up. This car has a racing history(hill climbs I beleive) so it is no longer stock. I have already ordered the Energy Suspension master bushing set to replace the shredded rubber ones that were on there. And my girlfriends uncle has 3 45 mm webbers(brand new) sitting in his machine shop that I can get for "close to family" price (to prevent jealousy I wont tell you exactly what price)I am basically looking for any suggestions or helpful hints for when I put it all back together. My main concerns this summer is header, carbs, and suspension, and braking. I am hoping to switch to rear wheel discs. Any help or hints feel free to reply to this thread or private message me with anything you have. I want to thank the owner of this site for the opportunity to share and learn information about the Z car. I have already learnt a lot just by reading other threads. Thanks all, and looking forward to hearing from you

Your dedication makes me feel ashamed for scrapping out my last Z because it was a little rusty! Oh yea, and dented. Your car looks great though. Never feel guilty to get a good deal on those Webers. Believe me, The money you save, will be spent 10X over if your Z lust takes complete root. Take it from me. I can't tell you how much I spent in the last three months. Mainly, because I wont admit it to myself! But, It's worth the cost for the smile on my face every time I walk up to my Z!

If your looking for help, support, acknowledgement, sympathy, you've found it here. Where others might tell you you're crazy or sick, We'll just say-

Go, Baby, Go!

If you want to know about rust on Z's, you have come to the right place. You will find that all of us have had to deal with rust on these cars to some degree. Some rather extensively. Just search "rust" and "POR-15" here and you will be overwhelmed with the information available. Good luck with your car.
