XYZ Posted December 23, 2002 Share #1 Posted December 23, 2002 Hey everyone- For those of you who like to make mod's, this one ought to peek your interests. I found this the other night in front of a small auto shop in the Denver area. We haven't had much snow here lately so there's probably not much use for this but maybe up north in the snowier regions you could make use of this concept. I'm really curious how well it works. 2ManyZs Posted December 23, 2002 Share #3 Posted December 23, 2002 Guess you guys don't want TNN on Sunday huh? There is a show on there called "Trucks" that did a feature one this particular mod. Only difference was they put it on a pickup if I remember right. It might be OK as long as you never need to go on the road, not even sure it would be legal to drive on the road in most states........There was one a while back that would flip over when hitting an obstacle, instead of just climbing up and over it would flip itself onto the next side and climb it that way. This one is driven the same way as a tank with the rollers, the older conversion drove in the middle and would rotate around the axle if needed. Guess that is why you don't see too many of them, it's a bit too different and obviously has its limits....
XYZ Posted December 24, 2002 Author Share #4 Posted December 24, 2002 It would be pretty interesting to see what kind of power ends up at the wheels. I'm sure the mechanic(s) were bored and had this K5 sitting around and thought it would be a fun project. It's a pretty interesting modification. How well it works though I couldn't tell you. If I go by someday and it's still out I'll try and see what they say about it. Maybe they'll drive it for me?!
