Medical Procedure In San Francisco

I always thought that Americans took care of Americans...

Sure he admitted to being addicted to prescription medicine, but what does that have to do with anything? I thought that the left was poised on making cannabis, along with other drugs, legal? I have heard the argument that if drugs were legal "they wouldn't be a problem" and that they could be taxed.

I have also heard arguments from the left that murderers in prison should be given a second chance because they can "change". I guess people on the right can't get a second chance, they might be dangerous.

As for Americans taking care of Americans... sure we look after one another, it is what a good neighbor does. However the bread winner of the house works hard to take care of themselves and their families financially. In the economic mess we are in, I am sure many people regret the fact that a part of their pay check goes to pay for socialist programs that give handouts. Handouts have been given even since before this recession (my dad works at the welfare office), however now that even middle class families are struggling, the resentment is higher. What happened to that "teach a man to fish" proverb?
