Blower Harness Connector

Recommended Posts

On my car, the power comes fromthe main harness to the blower sub-harness through the three-wire connector. By the way, my dash is from another Series 1, so I don't know the build date (I threw away the serial numbe plate) so it may be that is why the dash harness has the three-wire connector.

If the harness was re-engineered to power the blower through the large single red wire, I would have expected that they would have also changed the blower sub-harness to do away with the three-wire connector too??? Why have an extra wire??

Have you ever been able to find the corresponding three-wire connector on the main harness to plug your three-wire on the blower sub-harness into?

Just reading this thread now as I am seeking help with the connections in the area.

I believe the orphan connector in the blower harness is for factory AC. My supposition is based on the drawing on page 26 of the 71 FSM document: "S30 Supplement Manual" . On page 27 it mentions that item 54 (L) is power for AC coming from the same harness so I assume that the 3 pin connector is also some sort of control leads for the AC unit or related louvers, etc.

If I’m not mistaken, in my 73, the heavy red wire connects to a heavy blue wire that is powered by the accessory position on the key switch. This comes from the accessory relay on the 73 and supplies power to the fan. I have a 72 and 73 heater wireing harness and I believe they are the same.
